What makes Anthem Pathway different

Pathway plans cover all 159 counties, which makes them a common option in rural Georgia, where choices can be limited.
Metro Atlanta, Columbus and Augusta get Pathway Guided Access plans, where you pick a primary care doctor and need referrals for specialists. Elsewhere, standard Pathway plans skip the referral step.
Many plan names include "$0 Virtual PCP" and "$0 Select Drugs". That means $0 virtual primary care visits and $0 for a list of selected medicines.
Southwell's hospitals in Tifton and Adel joined the Pathway network in August 2025.

You live outside metro Atlanta, where choices can be limited
You want a Blue Cross Blue Shield plan
Your doctors are in the Pathway network

Think twice if

Pathway is a Marketplace-only network, so doctors who take Anthem through an employer may not take it. Confirm yours by name in Anthem's Find Care tool.
Anthem's Blue Value plans are a separate company with a different network. Check which one your doctor accepts.
Guided Access plans need a referral from your primary care doctor before you see a specialist.
